However I can't ignore glaring errors which jar me out of the scene, then I wonder how an editor could have missed it. I've read well known authors who head hop and wonder if someone is too intimidated about the famous author to point that out. I think I will mention a good novel to someone, but not write a book review of any except for non-fiction. But that is not written in stone!!!J.Q. It's surprising how many tags can be eliminated with only a little bit of thought.

When I have more than a few characters in a book, I've been known to make a cheat sheet with their physical characteristics, where the live, and stuff like that, their relationships, stuff like that. That way I can concentrate on the creative process instead of sweating the small stuff.Morgan Mandelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10118929301591850918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8915423025917785375.post-21880550140710275262011-01-09T13:22:40.498-08:002011-01-09T13:22:40.498-08:00I decided not to review because I know it will jus...I decided not to review because I know it will just kill the enjoyment of reading...I would rather read the book and not worry about having to give someone a review.Savannah Chasehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03969287794654622274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8915423025917785375.post-33008732378624219562011-01-09T05:47:43.185-08:002011-01-09T05:47:43.185-08:00Most of the time, my internal editor doesn't s...Most of the time, my internal editor doesn't snap on when I'm reading a book for enjoyment, thank goodness. Of course if it is a major faux pas,I don't think any reader would not catch it.

I have a great group of critiquers that catch my potholes before going to the editor. She's multi-published. So I'm wondering why we are following these editing rules in the first place.Diane Scott Lewishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05724042672923318289noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8915423025917785375.post-65891946279805471622011-01-08T14:01:04.473-08:002011-01-08T14:01:04.473-08:00Loved the post, Ginger. When I read a book and it has a shift of POV, it really bothers me and I can't concentrate on what is taking place in the story. I have some old books from the 70's and 80's and the POV is jumping from person to person and fron line to line and it never bothered me then!

MaggieMaggie Dovehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07894111738759045539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8915423025917785375.post-20699601689543007622011-01-08T13:36:21.304-08:002011-01-08T13:36:21.304-08:00I KNOW! It's sort of obsessive-compulsive now.

When I do post a review, I won't mention of the minor editing faux pas, but it's hard to pass up giant plotholes. Bump.
