I know now that I'll stay away from contest judging with that kind of scoresheet. Learning to follow all the different guidelines is sort of like dealing with different ATM machines in the stores where you shop. The hook, POV switches, grammar, etc. I didn't focus as much on formatting, because it was more important to me that the content was there.

I entered a contest, too, and had a judge who told me Penn Station didn't run any more (which it does) and that two spaces after a sentence isn't right at all (WRONG--see this article: http://www.insanedames.com/articles/spaces.html--it's still accepted and both editors PREFERRED 2 spaces).

Anyway, I intend to keep this list...good list to remember when writing.

Thank you!Paige Ryterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08622153040409205880noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8915423025917785375.post-79319211390266563472009-08-31T09:14:31.279-07:002009-08-31T09:14:31.279-07:00Thanks for the comments thus far. I've judged for the last two years and although it's time consuming, especially if I'm on deadline,it's also fun to read the different stories and such varied ones for the same category. I usually have about 55 entries to judge. I pace myself and try to read about five a day, that way I can take my time and thoroughly enjoy what I'm reading...TabsTabitha Shayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05972042366495721348noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8915423025917785375.post-9328813617973552052009-08-31T08:52:30.981-07:002009-08-31T08:52:30.981-07:00Okay, I guess I was logged in under the contest em...Okay, I guess I was logged in under the contest email address for that last comment, so it didn't show my profile...
Thanks, again, Ginger!KATZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05724728384829762730noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8915423025917785375.post-26975744169270256432009-08-31T08:52:27.227-07:002009-08-31T08:52:27.227-07:00The guidelines are terrific.
