Wow...2009

I'm frightened by how quickly time is rushing by us. It seems that just yesterday I was a young girl facing marriage and wondering what the future held in store for me. Well, now I've seen it, and although it hasn't been all champagne and roses, I don't think I would change a single thing. Everything happens for a reason, they say, and although I don't have millions, I'm rich in many ways. Just none you can spend. *lol*

As those of us in the internet publishing business start another year of promotion, I think we should make a pact to find favorite authors among our peers. I feel sad when I read interviews posted on the net where fellow e-pubbed authors can only list mainstream authors as their favorites. Sure, we all want to achieve that goal of notoriety and fame, BUT do those people really need our help in promoting them? I think not. Nora Roberts already has a path from her door to the bank. *smile*

Today, I was honored to read an interview on Beverly Bateman's site. Margaret Tanner, a fellow author and friend, prompted me to blog about this topic. Although I would love to be listed as everyone's favorite, I realize 'it ain't likely to happen,' but if we all plug one another...and do it because we really believe it, then maybe people will take more notice of us and our work. Here's what Margaret had to say:

MARGARET: Historical romances set in the Scottish Highlands are a particular favourite of mine. I like historical stories set against an Australian background, because that is what I write. My favourite authors are : Anne Gracie, a very gracious lady who I have met on several occasions, Ginger Simpson and Tricia McGill.

Okay...now I'm blushing, but it sure felt great to read that. So...I've started posting some of my favorite authors and books on my blog, and I hope to find more time to read so I can add more. If you've read a book by a published internet author and want to brag about it...let me know. I'm considering blogging once a week about great reads. Help me get it started. Send your email to Ginger.

If you'd like to read Margaret Tanner's whole interview, you can find it at Beverly Bateman's Site

  1. Hi Ginger,
Your idea for a weekly blog is a good one.
Thank you for the kind words. It was my pleasure to mention you and Tricial McGill (another small press author) as two of my favourite authors, because it is true. I enjoy reading well crafted books with exciting story lines from talented authors such as you and Tricia.
    Regards
    Margaret
