Cindy Spencer Pape in the house

Hi Ginger! I can't really be the first one here, can I?

Well, hello everyone. Cindy Pape, here, and I want to thank Ginger for opening up her blog to all of us for a summer kick-off party.

I write contemporary and paranormal romance, from the spicy to the erotic, for The Wild Rose Press, Ellora's Cave, Cerridwen Press, and most recently, Total-E Bound. I have two teenage sons, who are very cool about what mom does, though I have to admit it can get interesting. Nothing like working away on a steamy sex scene and suddenly having six teenagers tumble through the room. Distracting to say the least. Then of course my youngest, who is the social butterfly of the pair has to tell everyone, "my mom writes porn."

While I'm not offended by the words--this is a fifteen year-old boy--to him, erotic romance and porn are pretty much the same thing--I keep thinking the other moms are eventually going to come after me with torches and pitchforks. So if you smell something burning from southern Michigan this year, might want to hold off on the marshmallows.

Oh yeah--gotta do the links thing. I would so much rather just chat than promote--sigh. But here's where you can find me & my books. My newest release is Always a Cowboy, book 3 of Love at the Crazy H, out now from The Wild Rose Press.

  1. Cindy, congrats on being my first guest to wipe their feet on my welcome mat. I'm happy to have you and I enjoyed your post. I hope you'll come back this week and tell us more about you and your work.

I just posted about my inability to write the sensual scenes, so you have to know how much I admire that you do it and do it so well. :)

    Hugz,
    Ginger

  2. Hi Cindy:
I had to chuckle at the "my mom writes porn." My three daughters have always told everyone this, and do it proudly. In fact, when they were teenagers, there was no erotic romances (They're in their thirties now).

Nice to see you here on Ginger's blog. It's a nice place to chate.

  3. Oops! Make that, "It's a nice place to chat." Don't know what a "chate" is. LOL

  5. LOL Cindy!! At least your son is proud of what you do. I don't even TELL my kids (most are grown and gone now) what I write...nor my mother for that matter. Dear Christian woman in her 70's isn't ready to hear what naughtiness her one and only child has gotten up to in her middle age. heh.

If I smell smoke coming from your direction I'll bring the garden hose, not marshmallows on twigs!

  6. Thanks Ginger. Jannine, now I'm going to be thinking up definitions of "chate" all night. It's a good word, we should be able to use it for something. And Estella, I'm delighted to meet you. As for you, Lisa, hope you have a very lonnnng hose!
