New Blog

Evidently, expressing my political opinions on a site I started to discuss writing, books, and such has become a problem to some I value as friends and peers. Because of yesterday's post, I had someone I considered a dear friend cancel her appearance on my blog, unsubscribe to my loop and leave me wondering if this is the end of a friendship. I should have realized I was getting into murky waters when the same thing happened earlier on. When President Obama was campaigning, I shared an email I'd received. A friend of over fifteen years wrote me off for that one because she was offended. Never my intention but I see if I continue down this street, I'm bound to lose readers and that's never a good thing.

Clearly, political views are too much for some to handle. Trust me...this is the first time in my sixty-plus years that I've felt this strongly about anything in Washington DC...and it is not a racist or personal vendetta against our president. It's about what's right and what's wrong for America. Judging by the 1/4 million who attended the Tea Parties across the nation, I'm not alone.

BUT...I've decided to start another blog specifically for discussions aside from writing. If anyone is interested, I'll post the url once I've established my new "political" viewpoint site.

Thank you for staying with me despite differing opinions, and we'll now resume regularly scheduled programming.

  1. I am sooooo totally with you on everything you write Ginger. I am so P***** off at the direction our country is going. Everything you write is how I feel. It is comforting to know that I am not alone in my rage. I do though have to say that I miss your funny side. I realize there isn't much funny left in any of us but I always look forward to reading your blog because no matter what is going on in my life or the world I can depend on you to make me laugh. So I guess I will really enjoy both of your blogs. Thank you for being you!

  2. Whether or not others agree with your opinion, politics make strange bedfellows. I think a separate blog is a great idea, Ginger. Some folks are looking to find out about your books specifically when they come to your blog and you definitely do have strong opinions when it comes to politics. It may be more than some people want to read.

  3. Hiya Ginger! I think the other blog is a good idea. I try to keep an open mind as to my politcal opinion until I have researched the facts. I apologize if I offend anyone but seriously, if someone is your friend, I do not feel they would desert you just for having a political opinion. To each his own is how I feel but that doesn't stop me from trying to DO something about my opinion. A true friend will stick by you NO MATTER WHAT! Seriously, even our church is divided on issues pertaining to our government and this IS America where everyone has a right to their opinion. I feel it is a sad day when a friendship is destroyed for the sake of politics. I was blown away when our Pastor told us he received a letter from Homeland Security notifying him that he was on their list as a potential security risk. HONESTLY, you have to see this man. Our church supports many others throughout the world and just because of his views on politics he is deemed a security risk. Our own family has political debates almost daily. I think this is a good thing because it shows we are actually putting thought into our beliefs instead of following the growing trend whatever that may be at the moment. So Ginger, when you get that blog up, let me know, I would love to join it. I will also be checking out this blog daily as I have always been. And girl, if sometime in the future, we don't agree, I accept your apology now. LOL just kidding! I am a fan of both your work and your opinions so I refuse to go anywhere. I am a rock that will not be moved without great force!

    Have a great one Ginger!

  4. Ginger,

The I DISAGREE with another blog!!! Why should you make changes to your blogging just to appease other people? I think this kind of behavior is exactly what is wrong with this country!!! You do what you think is right, dont change it because because someone doesnt like it. Whoever this person is that left your blog is an Idiot... People have opinions. If you want fluffy puppies and sunflowers, go to Disney.com... this is life...

    Ciao!
    Dimes.
